Trip 2 - To the coast and back

He said -----

So the question was, can we introduce our two indoor  cats, Dylan and Symon, to motorhome travel?  Nobody ever said we do things halfway.  It's in for a penny in for a dollar in this household. All the planning and reservations are done.  PRN is packed.  Well, almost she says..   Off to the coast - Pacific coast in fact. Out the driveway with two howling cats.  Remember they rarely ever leave the house.  Stop at local big box store for ice.  LB puts calming drugs on Dylan and Symon.  <smile>  the boys go to happy land.

Three to four hours later we arrive at Cape Disappointment .

Parked and ready to explore.

view from the back window.
on the walk
how humans changed the land --
a little Pacific shore line
After a very restful night, we pack up and head down the coast -- to South Beach State Park , just a tad south of Newport, Or.
But first ...
a little taste of the North Oregon coast

We pull in and setup ... getting better and faster btw.
Its a good morning with coffee and knitting
Views of Newport Beach

And camper Dylan is wanting to do a bit of exploring himself ...

After two days of camping in state parks we are getting our RV legs.  Sadly its time to head home.  I'm sure there is more to learn.  Looking forward to it.

Our first night after all the hustle
and bustle of getting ready to go. PHEW!!! We
are parked next to a small lake at Cape Disappointment Campground in Washington, located on the Long Beach peninsula. We have no hookups 'cuz we don't have to have them. Priceless!
Relaxing, knitting, and beers...
BTW, this is the spot that Lewis and Clark ended up when they explored the Pacific NW. Glen wondered what all the fuss was about, the paved roads took them right to the ocean...hehehe.

This pic is at our next site, South Beach campground in Oregon. Just south of the bridge in Newport Beach. We lucked out getting a quiet little spot in the midst of 800 other campers. I exaggerate not! Two sites down a family pulled up to their site that had a huge sandy area. 3 young children with shovels and by morning? They had dug a hole 3ft deep and 6ft wide..we wondered if their going home project was to put all the dirt back!  2 nights here and then we wandered home along Hwy 34, found a lovely little campground called Blackberry that we would like to come back to.
NOW onto the Disneyland project! No cats this trip, can you imagine 2 little girls 2 adults AND 2 cats? no thanks. :}

Mission Accomplished Day 1

He said -----

Finally the call.   After almost to the date one year after deposit ProReNata is birthed.
List of things and stuff to gather..

  • basic get home RV supplies
  • oneway airline tickets
  • hotel reservations
  • personal stuff
  • double check charges on all electronic gear
  • re-read Owners manual (in case of test at factory)

Off to airport Tuesday June 17th.  Relatively smooth ride to sunny SoCal.

June 18th, 2014

  • Call Todd  for 8:00 AM pickup to Mothership
  • Spend morning learning ALL the motorhome's systems
  • Finally finish, sign, and exchange final check -- ProReNata is officially ours at 12:45 PM.

We met official ICC driver.  (We need to take delivery out of state to avoid California sales tax).  Its about 1:15 PM or so when we leave the factory.

Stop for gas -- painfully add 25 gallons of Cali gas for $98 and change.
OK time for mad dash for the Nevada border.

Around 5:00PM ish we meet the notary - sign all the official documents - take physical possession.

Food, gas and off like a pack of turtles.   Got 1500 or so miles ahead to get her home.

The call ......

Received the call from the factory.  The  motorhome will be ready for pickup June 18, 2014.

Plan the trip down.   Get airlines tickets.  Get hotel rooms.  Get travel money.   Gather the parts and pieces.      Pack luggage.    Ship what you can't put in carry ons.  Put house in order.  Plans for upkeep on noble cats.

Wow - its almost been one year waiting.  Just a few more days.

Waiting .......

Patience has never been my strong suit.  Delayed gratification was not high on my vocabulary.   But in just a few weeks we will be able to announce the birth/ownership of our new Lazy Daze  TK.

Most all the stocks and add-ons have been collected.    Maps, routes, and 'we just got to see have' been printed out.

Sometime in May ........  so be it.

less traveled roads

There is a love of the less traveled path.  New ideas, new sights, and new feelings.  Our plan is to take a closer look at this new world.
